The financial problems from previous films are troubling producers and affecting their new releases.
Akhanda 2 faced similar issues for a week but its release was finally cleared, and it will hit theaters worldwide tomorrow.
The latest film affected is Karthi’s Vaa Vaathiyaar, also scheduled to release tomorrow. Its producer, KE Gnanavelraja, has multiple debts, which are now impacting the film’s release.
Several parties approached the court to recover their dues. The Madras High Court has ordered KE Gnanavelraja’s Studio Green to pay Rs. 21.7 crore and as a result, the release of Vaa Vaathiyaar (to release in Telugu as Annagaru Vostaru) has been stalled.
The makers will announce a new release date soon.
